Brock captures historic bronze with five-set win over Trinity Western
The Brock Badgers made history on Sunday afternoon.
The OUA champions captured the first national medal in program history, defeating the host Trinity Western Spartans 3-2 (25-17, 24-26, 24-26, 25-18, 15-11) in the bronze-medal match at the 2026 U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship, presented by Booster Juice, at the Langley Events Centre.
The Badgers close the season at 22-4 (17-3 OUA), while Trinity Western finishes the campaign at 20-9 (15-5 Canada West).
Brock controlled the opening set, using strong attacking and steady defence to build an early lead before sealing a convincing 25-17 win.
The Spartans responded in dramatic fashion. Trinity Western edged Brock 26-24 in both the second and third sets, rallying late each time to take a 2-1 lead in the match and put the Badgers on the brink.
Brock refused to fade. The Badgers regrouped in the fourth set, tightening their defensive play and finding rhythm offensively to force a decisive fifth with a 25-18 victory.
In the final set, Brock held its nerve. After the teams traded points early, the Badgers pulled ahead midway through the frame and closed out the 15-11 win to secure the historic bronze medal.
Daryan Chadwick led Brock offensively with 17 kills, while Madison Tuck added 14 kills and eight block assists. Emma Baruchelli contributed 11 kills and nine total blocks, and Charlotte Ross chipped in eight kills. Setter Mackenna Knox orchestrated the attack with 54 assists.
Emily Foest was named Brock’s player of the match, finishing with 12 kills and 10 digs in the victory.
For Trinity Western, Kaylee Plouffe and Maryn Boldon each recorded 15 kills, while setter Tayana Dmitruk registered 41 assists and 13 digs.
