Jessymaude Drapeau scored twice and added the game-winner as the No. 2 seed Concordia Stingers skated to a 3-1 victory over the No. 7 Manitoba Bisons in the opening quarterfinal of the 2026 U SPORTS Women’s Hockey Championship on Thursday at the Woolwich Memorial Centre.
With the win, Concordia improves to 27-2-0 (22-2-0 RSEQ) and advances to Saturday’s national semifinal at 4 p.m., while Manitoba drops to 17-14-6 (13-9-6 CW) and will play in the consolation bracket Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
Concordia struck early and controlled the pace throughout the opening 40 minutes. Juliette Leroux opened the scoring midway through the first period, finishing a play she helped create to give the Stingers a 1-0 lead. Drapeau doubled the advantage later in the frame, converting a setup from Émilie Lussier and Zoe Thibault.
Drapeau added her second of the game late in the second period, capitalizing at even strength to push the lead to 3-0. Lussier recorded assists on both of Drapeau’s goals, earning a multi-point performance and driving Concordia’s offence.
Manitoba showed pushback early in the third period, as Brenna Nicol scored on the power play just 2:26 into the frame to cut the deficit to two. The Bisons continued to press, outshooting Concordia in the final period, but could not solve Stingers goaltender Jordyn Verbeek again.
Verbeek was steady in net, turning aside 23 shots to secure the win, while Manitoba’s Emily Shippam made 18 saves in the loss.
Despite a late push from Manitoba, Concordia’s early offensive burst proved decisive as the Stingers booked their place in the national semifinal.
