Gabrielle Santerre scored twice, including the overtime winner, as the No. 3-seeded Bishop's Gaiters defeated the No.6-seed UBC Thunderbirds 4-3 (OT) in the third quarterfinal of the 2025 Miller Waste U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship at the Woolwich Memorial Centre. The second-year centre from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., was in on all four Gaiter goals, with two assists to add to her pair of goals.

In the overtime, with a shootout looming, Santerre took the puck in her own end and raced down on a two-on-one with lineman Naomi Côté and fired a wrist shot past UBC's Elise Hugens, sending the Gaiters to the national semifinals.

Bishop's got off to a dream start in their nationals debut, as Maude Pépin got the Gaiters on the board just 2:03 into the game. UBC tied the game as Karine Sandilands sent a rebound home at 17:07 of the first. Bishop's regained the lead at 7:39 of the second on Santerre's first goal of the game, a power-play marker. The T-Birds tied the game back up at 2-2 courtesy of Kasundra Betinol's goal at 15:37 of the second.

UBC took their first lead of the game in the third period, as Mackenzie McCallum fired a shot past the Gaiters' Ericka Gagnon. The T-Birds defence clamped down in the third period, denying the Gaiters many scoring chances until Bishop's pulled Gagnon with two minutes left and was able to apply pressure on the UBC net. Annika Lafrenière tied the game up with just 31 seconds to go, redirected a shot from Santerre to send the game into extra time.

Santerre, the 2024 Brodrick Trophy as U SPORTS player of the year, took player of the game honours for the Gaiters, while Grace Elliott, the 2025 winner, got the nod for UBC.

Hugens made 21 saves for UBC, while Gagnon had 19 stops for the Gaiters.

With the win, Bishop's advances to the semifinals, where they will play either UNB or Toronto on Saturday at 7 p.m. UBC will play in a consolation game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
