DAY 3 RECAP – 2025 FISU WINTER WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES
Team Canada’s Mixed Curling team continued its winning ways, booking a ticket to the semifinal with an undefeated Day 3 at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy.
MIXED CURLING:
The team of Jessica Zheng (University of Waterloo) and Victor Pietrangelo (Brock University) went 2-0 on Day 3 of competition in Mixed Doubles Curling, moving their record to 6-1. They defeated Italy 10-4, and followed up with a 9-4 win over Germany, improving their record to 6-1 and securing their spot in Tuesday’s semifinals. Zheng & Pietrangelo will play Germany for the chance to compete in the gold medal matchup on Tuesday evening.
SNOWBOARD CROSS:
Noah Royz earned 17 points in the Snowboard Cross round robin, placing him fourth in the rankings heading into Tuesday’s semifinal heats. The semifinal and final session begins at 2:30 PM Torino time.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY:
Team Canada Women’s Hockey scored four times in the first five minutes and never looked back, trouncing Great Britan by a 14-0 score to move to 2-0 on the tournament.
The Canadians outshot their opponents by an 89-2 margin, controlling the puck for the entirety of the 60 minutes.
Concordia University’s Emilie Lussier led the way with two goals and three assists, while University of Waterloo’s Leah Herrfort and Université de Moncton’s Erica Plourde each added two goals and two assists. Scout Watkins-Southward (University of Toronto) and Madison Desmarais (Nipissing University) chipped in with three points apiece.
Team Canada now sits 2-0 and will take on Slovakia on Wednesday June 15th.
