U SPORTS Canada names Carleton, Saskatchewan women and Bishop’s men for FISU America 3x3 championship
Members of the Carleton Ravens and Saskatchewan Huskies women’s basketball teams, along with the Bishop’s Gaiters men’s team, will represent Canada at the FISU America 3x3 championship.
U SPORTS, the Canadian member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), announced Tuesday the country’s entries for the continental event, scheduled for May 26-28 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
On the women’s side, Carleton enters as the reigning FISU University World Cup champion and will look to capture a third straight FISU America title.
The Ravens roster includes first-year guard Tyanne Matosas-Adderly (Toronto, Ont./Crestwood Prep), second-year guard Catherine Oliver (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville), fourth-year guard Kyana-Jade Poulin (Brossard, Que./Vanier College) and fourth-year forward Jacqueline Urban (Ancaster, Ont./Lincoln Prep).
Urban and Poulin will be making their third consecutive appearance at the event, while Matosas-Adderly and Oliver are set to debut. Poulin was a second-team All-Canadian this season, Urban earned second-team honours in 2024-25, and Matosas-Adderly was named to the OUA all-rookie team. Head coach Dani Sinclair, who has guided Carleton to four straight Final 8 appearances, will lead the team, assisted by Michelle Abella.
Joining Carleton are the Saskatchewan Huskies, the reigning U SPORTS champions.
Saskatchewan’s roster features fifth-year guard Téa Demong (Hinton, Alta./St. Albert Catholic), fourth-year guard Maya Flindall (St. Albert, Alta./St. Albert Catholic), fifth-year forward Ella Murphy Wiebe (Saskatoon, Sask./Aden Bowman Collegiate) and fourth-year guard Logan Reider (Saskatoon, Sask./St. Joseph).
Murphy Wiebe was named most valuable player at this year’s U SPORTS Final 8, while Flindall earned Canada West second-team all-star honours. The Huskies will be led by Laura Dally, the program’s lead assistant coach over the past five seasons.
On the men’s side, Bishop’s will make its first appearance in international 3x3 competition after earning national silver.
The Gaiters lineup includes third-year forward Reggie Jean Seraphin (Ottawa, Ont./Carleton/Ottawa Next Level), second-year guard Yanis Malanda (Montreal/Vanier College), second-year guard Kyle Maurice (Lennoxville, Que./Cégep de Sherbrooke) and graduating forward Charles Robert (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que./Suffield Academy).
Robert is a two-time All-Canadian, while Malanda was named to the RSEQ first all-star team. Bishop’s will be coached by Matt McLean, the 2026 recipient of the Stuart W. Aberdeen Memorial Trophy as U SPORTS coach of the year, along with Kyle Desmarais. Desmarais, a former Gaiters player, won an RSEQ title in 2014-15 and now serves as 3x3 development co-ordinator for Basketball Québec.
The tournament serves as a qualifier for the FISU 3x3 World Cup later this year. As reigning world champions, Carleton has already secured a berth, while Saskatchewan and Bishop’s will be looking to join them.
