Tommy Gossland
UBC Thunderbirds
Gossland, a kinesiology student from Nanaimo, B.C., earned male-MVP honours following the CIS championships after he captured six medals, including five gold, helped set a meet record in the 4x100 relay (3:15.30) and led the UBC men to the team banner thanks to a narrow 11-point victory over Toronto. The fifth-year senior was awarded the Sprinter’s Cup for winning both the 50 and 100 free, added victories in the 200 free and the 4x100 and 4x200 free relays, and was part of the foursome that took second place in the 4x100 medley. Gossland will be in Montreal late next month for the Olympic trials.
